MAPLE PECAN BUTTER BALLS RECIPE

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 ounces pecan, finely ground ( about 3/4 cup)
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2/3 cup granulate sugar
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 large egg

1.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

2.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, soda, cinnamon, and finely ground pecans. Mix ingredients
well with a wire whisk and set aside.

3.
In another bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer set at medium speed until mixture
forms a grainy paste. Add syrup and egg and beat until slightly thickened.

4.
Add the flour mixture and blend at low speed just until combined. Do not overmix. Place dough
in a plastic bag and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.

5.
Remove dough from refrigerator and shape into 1-inch balls. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheets,
1 inch apart. Bake 17 to 18 minutes, or until the cookie bottoms are golden brown. Immediately
transfer the cookies to a cool, flat surface.

6.
You can make cookies more festive by sprinkling them with powdered sugar. Then you can use
chocolate icing inside a pastry bag and make decorations on your cookies.
