HOME MADE GHEE RECIPE - CLARIFIED BUTTER

250 grams butter

1.
Melt the butter in a thick-bottom saucepan over medium heat. Leave the heat on the pan at
medium until a thick foam appreas on the surface of the melted butter.

Continute cooking uncovered for about 15-20 minutes or util the foam seperates and the milk
solids settle on the bottom and the liquid becomes clear. Be very careful at this point of the
cooking because the milk solids that are on the bottom of the pan can burn rather quickly.

3.
Line a strainer with a piece of cheesecloth. When the butter is melted and seperated then put the
strainer over a bowl and pour the liquid thru the strainer. Do not disturb the solids at the bottom
of the saucepan. Discard of the solids.

4.
Cool the ghee and then transer to a smaller container. Cover the ghee and chill it. Store in the
